An article from giving insights into the market from early 2010:

Nissan Note

According to the president of Nissan in Mercosur, Thomas Besson, Nissan will launch until 2012 a new compact in Brazil. This new model will arrive to compete with Fiat Punto, Ford Fiesta (until there will be the new one), Honda Fit and the Chevrolet Agile that will be released later this year.

Despite disclosing this information, Besson did not say anything more about the model. It is not known which engines will be available, whether it will be manufactured here in Brazil or will be exported from Argentina or Mexico or if it will be an existing model or if Nissan will develop a new vehicle for our market.

The expectation is that it is an existing model such as the Micra hatch or the MonoVolume Note, because most automakers are wanting to cut costs by turning most of their vehicles into global models.
