We may not have flying cars yet, but car manufacturers are doing their part to take our cars into the future. Here are our favourite recent car innovations.

Our Top 4 Car Innovations:

Adaptive Cruise Control:

Adaptive cruise control reduces your need to constantly stop and reset your car’s cruise control. There’s nothing worse than setting your cruise control only to have to brake a few seconds later. Thankfully, adaptive cruise control uses sensors to match the speed of the car in front. Meaning you can set and forget, without crashing.

Wireless Charging:

Although electric cars aren’t widely used, wireless charging is still a great idea. If electric cars do take off, and you have a wireless charger, you won’t need to muck around with the charging cable. You just drive into your garage, sit your car on top of the charger, and let it charge. That way, you won’t forget to charge your car like you do your phone. Wireless car chargers are still in prototype, but we can’t wait to see the technology realised.

Distraction Mitigation:

As the number of people in their cars, distracted by phones, increases, car manufacturers are investing in ways to keep drivers alert. The Subaru Forester’s DriverFocus technology, for example, alerts drivers using facial recognition. It can detect when people are distracted or falling asleep at the wheel. This innovation could save many lives in our technology distracted world.

Mobile Apps:

There are several great apps you can use to ensure a great car journey. Waze, for example, gives you real-time warnings about accidents, speed cameras, traffic jams and more. There are even apps in the US that help you find a parking space. And let’s not forget that Spotify, and other apps, are appearing as part of the car’s entertainment system. All of the above apps will make your ride easier and more pleasant. However, we would like to reinforce that you should not operate any of these apps while driving.

Conclusion

Car manufacturers, and app developers, are coming up with all sorts of way to enhance our experience on the road. To keep up to date with the latest car new, keep an eye on our blog.
